That is especially true when dealing with water damage.

Why Water Damage Needs Timely Intervention

Any water, fire or storm should address damage to your home as soon as possible. But water damage spreads readily spreads throughout your home in ways that worse the damage. The process can start to become worse within just a few hours.

Here’s a closer look at what happens when water damage starts to spread through your home:

Within hours, the first signs of mold damage can start to appear in your home. That means your home may need extra remediation services if this issue is missed and addressed quickly. Mold damage is usually first noticeable due to smell—homeowners dealing with mold report noticing musty odors as one of the first things they notice.

Days after the water starts to move through your home, you will notice signs of damage to the drywall and wood in your home. You may see wood surfaces warping and changing shape. The drywall in your home may become damp and stained. The walls and windows can start to warp, too.

As more time passes, the damage will continue to grow worse and compromise your home’s walls, flooring, doors and windows. The longer the damage continues, the more serious it will become. That means it will continue to deteriorate the home until costly repairs are inevitable.

So if you call for water damage restoration help early, you can avoid this serious progression!

If you need help dealing with damage caused by water, fire or any other issue, we’re here to help you restore your home. We have crews who are available 247 in the event of an emergency. Contact us at any time to learn more about us and how we can help you restore your home to its original state.

What’s Happening in Texas?

On Saturday February 13, 2021, Winter Storm Uri, a massive snowstorm, descended across Texas. The storm brought snow, below freezing temperatures, and ice across the state. Problems arose when Texas’s power grid failed due to the demand from people trying to keep warm and the weather, and this resulted in power outages across the state.

Homes in Texas are usually built to release heat, and this means builders don’t use as much insulation as you would find in homes in Northern states, and this plus the lack of power left many people to suffer through below freezing temperatures without any heating sources. People and animals across Texas have died as a result of the cold, and from carbon monoxide poisoning from trying to heat their homes with grills, generators, cars, etc.

The temperatures also caused pipes in homes and businesses to freeze and burst causing massive water damage in residential and commercial properties throughout the state. Contractors and water restoration crews are now booked out for months due to the high demand, and that is where SERVPRO is stepping in.

What Do We Do?

Here at SERVPRO, we understand that when dealing with water damage, immediate action is imperative. Our Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) certified technicians will respond immediately and begin the drying process. We use advanced SERVPRO equipment and techniques to dry the water. A technician will come by every day to monitor the drying process and ensure the property is drying properly.

If you are suffering from water damage, then please contact your local SERVPRO franchise. If you are in Texas, there may be a slight delay in starting the water remediation process, but SERVPROs are doing their best to get there quickly. SERVPRO is here to help!

Our Team Is Here to Help You Protect Your Basement and Home l SERVPRO® of Flagstaff/East Sedona

2/3/2021 (Permalink)

a small pool of standing water on a brown basement floor If you notice water standing in your basement or anywhere else in your home, contact SERVPRO of Flagstaff / East Sedona.

Basement water damage is one of the most common types of homeowners insurance claims filed every year. (It’s a subset of the one in 50 homeowners who file water damage claims every year.)

Water leaks and your basement can be caused by anything from bad weather to burst pipes. Unless your basement is in regular use, it can also be hard to spot. And because mold can move quickly through a home, it means that another common hazard for homeowners––mold––can sometimes creep into the area unnoticed.

Basement water damage and mold can cause health effects for people with allergies. It doesn’t take much water for mold to take hold.

In fact, experts say as little as an inch of water is enough. Keeping indoor moisture low is vital to fighting this home hazard.

So, if you do notice water standing in your basement or signs of mold like black spots on your basement walls or a stale, musty odor in the air, you must move quickly to remediate the damage and restore the home. It will help keep your family healthier and prevent further damage to your valuable property.
